Solar Carport Grants & Funding
Every active UK grant, tax relief and finance route that supports commercial solar carport projects in 2026 — with eligibility, deadlines, and which sectors qualify.
The Six Live Solar Carport Funding Routes in 2026
1. Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) — Phase 4
Eligible: NHS Trusts, state schools, FE/HE institutions, local authorities, fire and rescue, police, MoD estates. Funding: Up to 100% of project capex. Latest round: Phase 4 announced 2024 with £1.4bn over 2024-28. Solar carport eligibility: Confirmed in scope — solar carports and EV charging both explicitly named in the 2024 scheme prospectus.
We manage end-to-end PSDS applications including the SBEM modelling, carbon assessment, value-for-money case and post-award monitoring requirements. We are an approved Salix Finance Trusted Partner.
2. Salix Recycling Fund
Eligible: Public sector — NHS, schools, councils, HE institutions. Funding: 0% interest loan, 7-year typical repayment, repayments funded by energy savings achieved. Solar carport eligibility: Confirmed eligible — paragraph 4.7 of the Salix Compliant Technology List 2024.
3. Annual Investment Allowance (AIA)
Eligible: All UK corporation-tax-paying businesses. Funding: 100% first-year capital allowance on solar PV plant and machinery up to £1m per company group (permanent from April 2023). Effect on £400,000 carport: Reduces corporation tax bill by £100,000 in year one (at 25% main rate).
4. OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
Eligible: Any UK business with a registered workplace and dedicated off-street parking. Funding: £350 per EV charge socket, up to 40 sockets per applicant — maximum grant per applicant £14,000. Solar carport relevance: Most modern solar carports include EV chargers; WCS grant stacks with carport capex.
5. Welsh Government Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme

Stack Multiple Schemes
Most projects stack 2-3 funding routes. Public-sector example: A £950k council solar carport in 2024 stacked PSDS Phase 3c (£950k capex grant, 100%) with OZEV WCS (£14k for 40 sockets) and Salix Recycling Fund (£0 — used PSDS grant first). Total project cost to council after stack: £0 (PSDS) plus £14k OZEV recovery = £-14k net (i.e., council received a payment).
Private-sector example: A £400k logistics carport stacked AIA (£100k corporation tax saving) with OZEV WCS (£14k for 40 sockets). Effective post-tax capex: £286k. With a 7-year asset finance facility at 8% APR, monthly cost is £4,460 vs the £35,000/month electricity saving — net positive cashflow from month one.
